I had the urge to dig out old rolled up drawings that I used to create at University. I would jump on a train and mooch around the Merseyside river & coastline paper on shoulder and sit with the sea splashing and scratch away, this dark energetic mark making was freeing and stilling whilst listening to the waves crash. Looking back through old sketchbooks I see shapes, organic forms that reoccur, there has always been journeying, the line of the horizon or of the sky, swoops where the land meets water or many studies of floral oospheres & embodying germ shapes
I would like to get out there again amongst the landscape with large swathes of paper, the physical interaction with the work is important, the process is cathartic, peaceful, tracing the visual world and sitting in nature.
