when life gives you almonds, watercolour, acrylic & pen on saunders waterford 300gm 100% cotton NOT surface watercolour paper, september 2019, 76 x 56cm, £440
so just at the front of the house we have four wonderful almond trees that offer shade and an abundance of sweet almonds, the branches were laden, drooping heavy like bunches of grapes, Arty and I lay on a blanket underneath to look at the sky, I made a few quick sketches and then decided to bring a branch into the studio, a drawing was made quickly and then I slowly worked on it over fragmented moments, evoking a sense of the foliage, shades of light & organic forms but for the most part experimenting with colour and tuning in to an inner resonance, innate reflection of nature.
